Tenth Ward Press Tour
Belonging to the unofficial Frederick Entrepreneurs Community is granted upon the initial “talk” of starting your own business. If you bring up your idea to someone in the community you will most likely be encouraged to talk to other successful local business owners. Once you talk to one, you’ll talk to 3, then 5 and you’re a member. If you dream it, you can do it and encouraged to do so. Monica Pearce is one of those local girls who had a dream and busted her butt until she had her own stone and mortar location on one of Downtown Frederick’s premier shopping streets.
Monica and Events Manager Amanda are currently showcasing the newly christened Whiskey Hall where they hold weddings and events. It’s quintessential Frederick. Original heart pine floors, industrial floor to ceiling black paneled windows, and exposed ceilings. They hung cafe lights for the perfect bokeh in the background of your photographs to complete the perfectly simple ambiance. Also, Maxwell’s Kitchen is right next door, and they let us indulge enough that we all ruined our supper.
Lastly, the part I was looking most forward to was tasting the BRAND NEW cocktails in the BRAND NEW cocktail lab. Head Distiller Mark and the crew at Tenth Ward are celebrating the newly passed HB549 on-site consumption bill that allows distilleries to sell cocktails made with liquor distilled on site. He literally outdid himself on the cocktail menu. From including CBD oils, absinthe, and fresh local organic herbs and fruit- the drinks made me feel like I was in the middle of a much larger city center without the pretentious hype that comes with it.
I’ve been pretty lucky to watch this hometown classmate (GO TJ) silently from the rafters do her thing. I’ve listened to her on panels and seen her in magazines and she has always remembered her roots and thanks everyone who got her where she is today. You go girl, excited to see where your humble demeanor takes you next!
